bex 7 reports without sap portal

Hi all,

i want to upgrade all bex repots from 3.5 to 7 but my organization doesnt use sap portal.

is it possible to install only the java engine of the portal and then run queries in the web ?

today, the reports menu is a wad 3.5 template and the users have link to this WAD to see the reports available. i want to preserve it but in WAD 7/ is it possible ? how ?
